Hunter Kinnard Receives High Voltage Lineman Scholarship
Clay County Electric Cooperative Corporation proudly announces Hunter Kinnard from Greenway as the recipient of this year’s High Voltage Lineman Scholarship. This award honors Hunter's exceptional potential and commitment to the field of linework, shown by his remarkable dedication and enthusiasm.
Hunter’s path to this achievement began three years ago when he set his sights on becoming a lineman. Hunter shared, “It’s a great career that I have wanted to do for about three years now. I’m willing to learn, and I'm not afraid of hard work. I would like to be a part of a team that will teach me the design and layout of electrical systems so that I can be able to tell people what I do for a living and be proud.”
Hunter not only stands out for his eagerness to learn but also for his desire to contribute back to the community. “I want to advance in life with a sense of purpose and contribution to the community that helped raise me,” he expressed.
Hunter will be attending a 10-month High Voltage Lineman Technology (HVLT) program starting this fall. The program equips individuals with the technical knowledge and skills necessary for installing, repairing, servicing and maintaining electrical power lines and supporting equipment. It includes training in AC/DC electrical theory, safety practices, transformers, tools, testing equipment, pole framing and operating bucket and digger derrick trucks.
This scholarship represents a significant milestone in Hunter’s journey, highlighting his potential and ambition. Clay County Electric is confident that Hunter will excel in his studies and future career as a lineman, bringing pride to both himself and the community.
