Smith Honored as AECI Board Chairman
Clay County Electric General Manager David Smith was recently recognized for his 2023-2024 service as chairman of the Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI) board of directors. He received his gavel from Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC)/AECI President/CEO Vernon “Buddy” Hasten at the board meeting on Sept. 4.
Smith began his career at Clay County Electric in September 1968, working in right-of-way. He was promoted to serviceman in 1974, and eventually to district manager in the Pocahontas office in 1990.
In November 2006, Smith was promoted to general manager, a role he continues to serve in today. He was the first manager of Clay County Electric to serve as chairman of AECI. He continues to serve as chairman of the AECC board of directors.
