Business Spotlight
At Clay County Connect, we love spotlighting the businesses that help shape and strengthen our local communities. This quarter, we’re proud to feature Goodman Drug, a long-standing independent pharmacy in Corning, Arkansas, and a loyal Clay County Connect fiber customer for nearly five years.
A Commitment to Care
Founded in 2011, Goodman Drug is a locally owned and operated pharmacy built on a simple mission: to provide high-quality care while putting the health and well-being of their patients first. Their team is passionate about offering personalized service and takes pride in being deeply involved in the community they serve. Their commitment to care goes far beyond prescriptions!
Services That Make a Difference
Goodman Drug stands out with a wide range of essential services, including:
- Free in-town delivery for added convenience
- Point-of-care testing for Flu, COVID-19, and strep
- Vaccinations for adults and children ages 6 and older
- Medication Therapy Monitoring to ensure safe, effective treatments
- Birth control prescribing and counseling for women 18 and up
A Community Partner
Goodman Drug is more than a pharmacy — it’s a community partner. They regularly support local events such as Corning’s Fourth of July celebrations, the Hop Alley Rally, and youth sports including softball, football, and basketball. Their support for local fundraisers and school activities shows a deep commitment to giving back.
Facing Challenges and Staying Strong
According to Cathy Goodman, Owner of Goodman Drug, "like many independent pharmacies across the country, we have faced challenges, especially from pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) that create roadblocks for small, local businesses. Despite these hurdles, we continue to stand strong, prioritizing patient care and fighting for the future of community pharmacies.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they were the first in Clay County to offer vaccines, playing a vital role in the emergency response effort and ensuring the community had access to life-saving care when it was needed most.
The Importance of Connectivity
Cathy Goodman, Owner of Goodman Drug, highlights the importance of a reliable internet connection, stating: “CCC has been consistent with very few interruptions in service and if they occurred, it was fixed very quickly. That is so important since we must be connected at all times to send and receive real-time communications with insurance and physician offices.”
Looking to the Future
Goodman Drug is not stopping anytime soon. They continue to grow their services to meet the needs of the community, with a strong focus on wellness, accessibility, and personalized support. Their vision is clear: to make their customers their top priority!
