Safely Installing a Generator

Before Installation:

  • Follow all manufacturer instructions and local building codes
Pay attention to placement and electrical connections

Never connect a generator to your home’s electrical system without a proper isolation device. Improper installation can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, electrocution, or fire.

This applies to:

  • Portable generators
  • Stationary units

Contact a qualified electrician to install an isolation device. Without one, your generator could harm utility workers or damage your property.
